We’re delighted to announce that The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity (STWLC) has approved six loans totalling £85,000 in the final quarter of 2023, taking the Charity’s total allocation amount for 2023 to a huge £600,000.
Five businesses, including a property management company, DJ and restaurant, will benefit from a share of £75,000 in interest-free business loans this quarter, while a £10,000 interest-free education loan will support postgraduate studies for one student.
This means that in total across 2023, STWLC has approved 36 business loans totalling £533,000 – the Charity’s highest number since 2008 – and eight education loans totalling £67,000.
Established in 1542, STWLC hosts quarterly application windows each year in which people aged over 18 and under 45 can apply for unique interest-free loans of up to £20,000 to aid local businesses, or £10,000 to support students wishing to return to postgraduate education. The Charity’s loans are interest-free for nine years, and become repayable by equal instalments after three years.
Lucy Womack, STWLC Chair, said: “It has been a fantastic year for The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity. We have approved loans for new and expanding businesses and further education courses of £600,000 over the last 12 months, which is a record amount.
“As passionate supporters of the Leicester business and entrepreneurial community, this is a significant achievement that we are very proud of, and we look forward to continuing our support into 2024 and beyond.”
The next deadline for applications is 3.30pm on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
